I strongly suggest you reach out and find out why you were terminated. The terminations are typically triggered by multiple algorithms Amazon has in place. Recently, many authors I know that have had their accounts terminated have been able to prove they were terminated in error and have got reinstated. Put simply: 1. the terminations are triggered by an algorithm (or more than one) 2. If you question it, a live agent will be assigned to look into it 3. If you’re proven to have been wrongly terminated, they can reinstate you. While there are no guarantees, if you DON’T question it, you’ll definitely not be reinstated. I hope this helps!

There’s no official measurement. I just go with the same dimensions as my print book so it’s proportionally accurate.

If you choose to publish through amazon, then yes you have to purchase a proof copy. This is to ensure the quality of your book is good.

At this time, KDP is not turning away AI-Generated content. The important thing is that you’re honest and accurately represent your content by selecting ai generated if it is and then when asked answer the follow-up questions. (Ie how much is generated and what platform you used to generate it) While it’s only speculation, based on my experience with Amazon KDP, I envision they’ll eventually add a label in the product description, on the books sales page that will denote whether it’s ai-generated or not. Similar to how they denote if your book is compatible with Scribe, etc.

I see the confusion. Most of the trim sizes that Lulu offers IS portrait. I have other videos on how to publish a book on Lulu. Some children’s book authors were asking how to publish a book that’s in landscape mode. That’s why I created this video. So,if you’re looking to publish a trim size that’s in portrait mode, then you’ll want to format it in portrait mode, but if you’re looking to publish a landscape trim size on Lulu, this video is what you’re looking for.

Correct, if you’re publishing on another company’s platform, like Amazon, you have to follow their rules and guidelines. If you sell books on your own website, you have far more control!

Anytime you publish on someone else’s site you do give up some control but the traffic you get in return is hard to duplicate on your own website site. At least when you start out.

No, misleading content is when you make it sound like the book is something it’s not. For example, if you put audiobook in the keywords, even though it’s for the ebook version. Another example would be if you use keywords like children’s book or picture book, when it’s a coloring book. Again, these are just some quick examples. The bottom line is that you want your keywords to be as accurate to what the book is as possible.

At this time, yes, KDP is the only way to add A+ content to your books.

So how do publishers who clearly don’t publish through KDP add a “From the Publisher” ?

Do I make the equivalent of a full time income with self-publishing books, yes. That said, I don’t just publish on KDP. I publish wide, using aggregates like Draft2Digital. As I don’t like putting all my eggs in one basket. I also bring in additional revenue from other areas of my business like coaching, courses, Merch by Amazon, etc. To be clear, I don’t do these other things because I HAVE to, I do them because I love helping others as well as, since I have ADHD, my mind gets bored of just doing the same thing day in and day out. I hope this answers your question.

Unfortunately, the answer to this is different based on each person's needs. I have a video on this, but basically, I price my books to make at least a $2 profit for each book sold. Then you calculate how much you need to make to replace your current income (and benefits). Take this amount you NEED to make and Divide it by your average profit per book and this will give you an estimate as to how many books you'll need to sell to reach that threshold. It's most likely going to seem like an astronomical number, but understand that this doesn't mean you have to sell that many of one book. As you publish more books and as your profit margin goes up, the amount of copies you'll need to sell will seem more and more doable. My video goes into a bit more detail, but this is the gist of how to figure it out. I hope this helps!
